Slides: Mammal compact bone ground, c.s.

Compact bone is made up of closely packed osteons (round structures), each with a central canal called the Haversian canal, layers called lamellae, and gaps called lacunae. Osteocytes--the cells that produce bone tissue--are found within the lacunae. All of these structures are visible on this slide.
